Is Land Going to Offer us Financial Freedom?

After we take the Land, Then What?

Today I came across a pretty sensitive and emotionally-driven article in The Star Newspaper IOL.co.za/the-star, by Sakhile Ndlazi, titled "Tears as PAC families visit gallows."

To summarize the content of the article: "Nine family members visited  the gallows at Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Center to find closure for stalwarts of former PAC armed wing Poqo, who were hanged in the 1960's." *take note

It continues to say,"A tour guide took the families through the building, explaining the details surrounding their loved one's last moments. It didn't take long before tears started following."

One of the visitors, Nombulelo Mgweba, recalled that her uncle (Who was just 30 years old at the time) was hanged on May 30, 1967. *again, take note
"How cruel do you have to be to kill another human like this? How did these people sleep at night? I have mixed emotions right now. I'm glad I've found closure with my uncle and, equally, am angered by the way he died."

Now the interesting elements come through; closure, mixed emotions and anger, all in one person's statement. Follow me carefully now.

"Almost all the family members shared the same sentiments"... "What broke the spirit of the relatives even further was when the tour guide explained the paradox of the telephone inside the execution chambers... He said it was there for the president to use to spare a prisoner's life, but it never rang."

Let me take a step back to mention one important aspect of humanity: incentive. In most or all acts undertaken by mankind under the sun arises from either a desire or discontent over particular matters. Even business is known to be borne out of anger/dissatisfaction/passion for a particular product or service.

People are indirectly encouraged  to feel enraged, and take out all that frustration on current citizens, using events that occurred almost 6 decades ago!

Is land expropriation no different? Are we not falling victim to politicians using our emotional state to gain even more power? If I am wrong please do tell... If not, time will tell.

But wait! There's more!!

"PAC president Narius Moloto encouraged attendees to carry on the fight for liberation."We have a new battle to fight now;land. Our Comrades died for political freedom, no(w) we must by all costs attain financial freedom, through land," he said."

This type of motivation reminded me of the satirical novel written by Gorge Orwell; Animal Farm.
Battle. Fight. Liberation.Political Freedom.Financial freedom. All just for Land. Yet in the end...

What is this obsession with land anyways ? With what we had on hand, what did we do with it? With what we will hopefully have after the whole chaos , what will we do with it?

When our government has failed us time and again, what will the seek next from their past oppressors? Factories? Their Banks? Their Homes or maybe even their  savings. How about their expertise? Afterwards, remind me when our government begins to misuse such resources, when South Africa is experiencing economic and social instability; remind me.

It seems Havelock Ellis was Right "The Promised land always lies on the other Side of the wilderness."
